Ok, we do all probably spend a little bit too much time on our phones, scrolling endlessly through the masses of content put in front of us. But is it all bad? Absolutely not. Of course we’re Team Social Media, that’s our job, but we’re here to tell you why social media is actually a great tool and how, when managed properly, can seriously put your business head and shoulders above the rest.
Social media is massive. Everyone is using it, your friends, your colleagues, even your aunt’s dog – and now most companies have clocked on that it can be an excellent, cost effective way to grow your business. From organic feeds to paid social ads, using social media platforms effectively can help drive traffic to your website and encourage sales. But social media for your business is not to be taken lightly, if you’re going to do it, do it right. Don’t just throw content out there for the sake of it – for many people, it may be their first impression of you.
Social media platforms are the perfect place to build and establish your brand to your audience. In our opinion, the best thing about using social media is how it can create a community. There really is a place for everyone on social media. Facebook, for example, has pages and groups for everything from hair advice to bad taxidermy, we can guarantee there’s a community out there to match your business.
A community and a following are two completely different things. Sure, having a lot of followers is great, but when you have a community of like minded people engaging with your content, starting discussions and supporting your brand, that’s when the real magic happens.
The difference? Communication. Social media is an excellent place to talk to your customers and other companies and create valuable content that really resonates with them. Social media platforms allow your business to give something back to the customer directly, opening this direct channel of communication allows you to have a deeper understanding of your audience and find out what makes them tick. So why not get them involved with some user generated content, interactive posts and some careful and targeted outreach to start the conversation. Respond to their comments and like their posts – help your audience feel valued and seen and watch the results come in.
